New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore announced that starting running back Travis Etienne Jr. must spend at least a month recovering on injured reserve following a hamstring strain.
The injury occurred during a recent matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders when Etienne pulled up mid-run and required medical attention. Although surgery is not necessary, the designation means the prominent backfield addition will miss a minimum of four games.
Etienne previously dealt with a similar leg issue during practice leading up to that contest. His absence opens a clearer path for veterans and teammates like Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller, and CJ Donaldson to absorb the rushing and receiving workload while the offseason acquisition works toward his recovery.
