Professional cyclist Valentina Cavallar recently shared a deeply distressing personal experience on social media following the passing of her mother in September. The SD-Worx Protime rider, who placed ninth at the Giro d'Italia Women earlier in the year and withdrew from the Tour de France Femmes prior to the final August stage, revealed that she was forced to complete a home anti-doping screening just hours after her mother died in the adjacent room.
While expressing her continued support for clean competition, Cavallar criticized the lack of empathy and compassion shown by officials during such a vulnerable moment for her family.
