Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks headed to IR, Austin Ekeler scheduled for workout
Carolina running back Jonathon Brooks faces another extended absence following a recent groin injury sustained during a thirty-four to three victory against Atlanta. Medical evaluations revealed a core muscle tear requiring surgery and an upcoming six-week recovery period, prompting team leadership to place him on injured reserve.
This latest setback follows previous major knee injuries that heavily disrupted his collegiate career and initial professional seasons.
In response to the backfield vacancy, organization officials scheduled a workout with veteran running back Austin Ekeler on Wednesday as they evaluate outside reinforcements. Chuba Hubbard has handled the vast majority of offensive duties for Carolina so far this year, while AJ Dillon currently serves as the only other active running back on the roster alongside practice squad members Anthony Tyus Third and Ahmani Marshall.
