Taco van der Hoorn faces an uncertain future as his contract with Lotto-Intermarché concludes, leaving the 32-year-old to weigh his options for the 2027 season. Despite a career highlighted by a 2021 Giro d'Italia stage win, his recent performance has been hampered by a series of physical setbacks, including a severe concussion from a 2023 Tour of Flanders crash, knee surgeries, and a broken hand and elbow sustained during the Renewi Tour.
Although he returned to win the Elfstedenrace late in 2024, the rider estimates his chances of securing a new WorldTour contract at fifty-fifty. If he cannot remain in the professional road circuit, Van der Hoorn is considering a potential transition to gravel racing.
