Following a prolonged contract stalemate that kept him off the field for the start of the season, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was traded late Wednesday night from Pittsburgh to Dallas in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round selection and a 2028 second-round choice.
The Steelers will transition to Asante Samuel Jr. and Jamel Dean as their starting cornerbacks, supported by rookie Daylen Everette.
For the Cowboys, the acquisition brings in an experienced starter intended to bolster a struggling defensive unit currently ranking low in third-down efficiency, red-zone stops, and total points allowed. However, the move also leaves Dallas facing the future obligation of securing Porter with a significant contract extension.
