Rishabh Pant celebrated his 29th birthday in style by returning to lead Rest of India to a 167-run triumph over Jammu and Kashmir in the Irani Cup 2026. The four-day match concluded on Sunday, October 4, at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar, where Pant praised his squad's cohesive performance after lifting the trophy.

Key individual efforts drove the victory, notably Mukesh Kumar's match-winning figures of eight wickets, including a second-innings haul of 6 for 33. Ravichandran Smaran anchored the batting effort with a first-innings 68 followed by an unbeaten 135.

Pant missed the third day due to a fever, temporarily handing leadership duties to Sarfaraz Khan before resuming his captaincy for the final day's proceedings.
