Football Hall of Fame passer Kurt Warner recently shared his thoughts regarding quarterback sliding mechanics following a dangerous collision during the matchup between Oregon and USC. During the second quarter, Oregon signal-caller Dante Moore scrambled for ten yards and initiated a slide, whereupon Trojans linebacker Desman Stephens II delivered a forceful shoulder blow that drove Moore's head into the ground and resulted in a concussion diagnosis and hospital transport.
Officials penalized Stephens with a targeting infraction and ejected him from the contest, which ultimately ended in a 41-27 victory for USC. Following criticism over both the hit and Stephens' subsequent sideline taunting while the injured player received medical attention, USC head coach Lincoln Riley issued a one-game suspension for the linebacker.
