Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts has reportedly selected his opening arm for the upcoming postseason series opener against Atlanta. Left-handed standout Tarik Skubal is slated to take the ball for the first contest at Dodgers Stadium this weekend.
The reigning Cy Young winner arrived in Southern California via a major midseason trade with Detroit and finished the regular campaign with three victories, two losses, and a 2.52 earned run average across eight appearances.
With Skubal anchoring the rotation for the Saturday matchup, teammates Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Blake Snell could follow for the subsequent contest. The franchise has now reached the playoffs for fourteen consecutive seasons, matching a historical milestone previously achieved by the Braves.
Meanwhile, opposing manager Walt Weiss has yet to finalize his opening pitcher, though staff ace Chris Sale recently appeared in the wild-card round against Philadelphia.
