'Monday Night Football' announcer Joe Buck agrees to contract extension with ESPN

Joe Buck has reached an agreement on a six-year contract extension with ESPN valued at more than $100 million, securing his role as the play-by-play voice of Monday Night Football. The fresh pact raises his earnings from approximately $15 million annually to $18 million, positioning him to lead coverage through the network's upcoming Super Bowl telecasts, including Super Bowl LXI.

Buck initially teamed up with analyst Troy Aikman at the network in 2022 after leaving Fox.

Beyond NFL duties, the network reportedly holds interest in using Buck for baseball broadcasts should it secure rights to the World Series, an assignment he previously stepped away from after handling just one MLB contest for ESPN. The announcement follows a minor glitch during the 2026 Monday Night Football opener between the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos, where technical difficulties momentarily silenced Buck and Aikman near the end of the opening quarter.
