The 2026 Baycurrent Classic in Japan promises a high-stakes showdown as defending champion Xander Schauffele aims to become the first player in tournament history to successfully defend the title. Schauffele, ranked 10th in the world, returns to Yokohama Country Club, where he finished 19 under par last year to win by a single shot over Max Greyserman.
This year’s field is stacked with top-tier talent, including world No. 5 Wyndham Clark, who has already claimed three victories in 2026, and Collin Morikawa, a former Baycurrent Classic champion.
The tournament also features Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas, among others, with Spieth making his first appearance in Japan since 2019 and playing for a chance to secure a spot in the 2027 PGA Tour Signature Events. Pressure mounts for players like Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Tony Finau, and Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, all vying to avoid slipping out of the FedExCup top 100.
The course, redesigned by Coore and Crenshaw, stretches to 7,322 yards with a 482-yard closing hole, testing players' strategic acumen and approach play—areas Schauffele mastered in his 2025 triumph.
