The Washington Huskies suffered a humiliating 41-24 defeat to the No. 20 Iowa Hawkeyes at Husky Stadium, with the Huskies completely overmatched from the opening whistle.
Iowa’s offense dominated early, scoring 27 unanswered points in the first half, including a 24-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski to DJ Vonnahme, who finished with two touchdowns. Iowa’s ground game was particularly lethal, with running back Kamari Moulton rushing for 208 yards and two touchdowns on just 26 carries, including a 56-yard burst on the first play of a drive that sealed a 13-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Huskies’ struggles extended to their own offense, as quarterback Demond Williams Jr. left the game in the first half after a hard tackle, having managed just 69 passing yards and a negative rushing total on four sacks.
Entering the second half, Washington’s defense failed to contain Iowa’s explosive attack, while their own offense managed only 14 total yards in the opening frame. Elijah Brown, the Huskies’ third-string quarterback, stepped in and showed flashes of promise with 251 passing yards and three touchdowns, but the lack of a functional rushing attack—totaling just 19 combined yards for the game—left him with little support.
Iowa’s physicality and dominance at the line of scrimmage proved too much, as head coach Jedd Fisch admitted his team was outplayed in every facet of the game.
