The Washington Commanders have formally opened a 21-day window for linebacker Jordan Magee to return from injured reserve, where he’s been sidelined since suffering a hamstring strain in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Magee’s absence has tested the team’s linebacker depth, particularly after Frankie Luvu missed time and Leo Chenal’s season ended due to a fractured neck.
If Magee isn’t activated before the 21-day period expires, he’ll be placed on season-ending injured reserve. While a return before the Week 6 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers is unlikely, the team’s return-to-play guidelines suggest he could be ready after the bye week, assuming his recovery progresses as expected.
Meanwhile, head coach Dan Quinn confirmed that cornerback Trey Amos and running back Jeremy McNichols, both on IR, are expected to participate fully in practices this week. Safety Nick Cross, currently on the active roster, is also set to join the team’s full practice sessions.
The Commanders also welcomed back defensive lineman Deatrich Wise from IR last week, where he has since contributed meaningfully up front.
