Vinicius Jr to miss Barcelona game because of ban

Real Madrid star Vinícius José Paixão de Oliveira Júnior will sit out the upcoming El Clásico against Barcelona after receiving a four-match suspension. The Brazilian forward was dismissed in Real’s 1-0 victory over Villarreal last weekend for violently pulling Villarreal defender Nathan Aké Saliba’s hair during a pitchside monitor review, which also nullified his team’s second goal.

The Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary panel penalized him with two games for violent conduct and two additional matches for protesting the referee’s decision. His absence will see him miss fixtures against Sevilla, Barcelona, Racing Santander, and Valencia over the next month.

Real Madrid manager José Mourinho skipped the post-match press conference following the incident, while Vinícius later issued a public apology to his teammates and supporters on social media.
