UFC 334, set to take place at Madison Square Garden on November 14, has lost another fighter to injury just weeks before the event. The card was already down one bout after Jefferson Nascimento withdrew from his lightweight matchup with Nazim Sadykhov due to an ailment.
Now, Sadykhov himself has pulled out of the fight, citing a persistent injury sustained early in training camp. The 32-year-old veteran, who had previously compiled a 6-1 record before joining the UFC, had been aiming to end a two-fight losing streak by stopping Fares Ziam and Matheus Camilo in his last two outings.
Sadykhov’s withdrawal leaves the UFC without a replacement, as he and his team decided against pursuing an opponent after Nascimento’s own injury forced the cancellation of their bout.
The main event of UFC 334 will still feature Ciryl Gane defending his undisputed heavyweight title against Josh Hokit, while the co-main event promises a historic rematch between reigning UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Kayla Harrison and UFC Hall of Famer Amanda Nunes.
