Luka Doncic powered the Lakers to a 124-118 victory over the Trail Blazers on Friday, contributing 53 points, five rebounds, and five assists. His performance included a long-range buzzer-beater before halftime and a dominant third quarter where he outscored the opposition 20-15.
The Lakers currently hold an 8-2 record, placing them at the top of the Western Conference standings. Doncic has now recorded seven consecutive games with at least 35 points, five rebounds, and five assists, matching a record previously held by Oscar Robertson.
He also joins Kobe Bryant and Elgin Baylor as one of three Lakers to score 35 or more points in seven straight outings, while becoming the fourth player in franchise history to log four consecutive 40-point games. Furthermore, he has maintained a streak of seven games with at least five made three-pointers.
If he continues his current pace of six made threes per game, he is on track to surpass the single-season record of 402 set by Stephen Curry, while also chasing James Harden's record of 12 consecutive games with five or more shots from beyond the arc.
