The Gophers did something P.J. Fleck has rarely done, and it could change their season

Minnesota pulled off a stunning 27-24 upset victory on the road against Washington to kick off their conference slate. Entering the contest as heavy 12.5-point underdogs, the visiting squad conquered a hostile environment where only two other opponents had emerged victorious since 2022.

This milestone triumph marks a rare and historic away win for head coach P.J. Fleck during his decade-long tenure in charge.

Defeating such a formidable host significantly alters the narrative surrounding the program's previous struggles in away games. Looking ahead, this momentum provides a crucial boost as the team prepares for an upcoming clash with Michigan.
