Top-ranked Texas suffered a stunning 27-24 defeat on Saturday after Oklahoma kicker Tate Sandell converted a 47-yard field goal in the closing seconds. The loss marked Oklahoma's first victory over the Longhorns since 2023 and dropped the top-seeded team to an unranked opponent for only the eighth time since the turn of the millennium.
Texas quarterback Arch Manning struggled late in the game, committing a pick-six early in the fourth quarter and throwing a second interception with under a minute remaining to set up the winning drive. For Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian, the result was particularly difficult as he has now been on the losing sideline for three of these rare upsets against unranked foes, including two previous instances during his time as an offensive coordinator at USC.
The Longhorns look to rebound next week against Florida.
