Somerset wicketkeeper Thomas Rew has earned his maiden international selection, breaking into England's T20I squad to face Australia next month. Jos Buttler will miss the series following hamstring surgery, while Eddie Jack has also picked up his first senior call-up alongside returning players Jacob Bethell and Phil Salt.
The teenage prodigy secured his spot following a rapid rise through the domestic ranks, which included development contracts, leading the England under-19 World Cup side, and impressive County Championship performances featuring a pair of centuries after completing his school examinations earlier this year.
This swift ascension has allowed the younger sibling to surpass his older brother James in the national selection hierarchy. James previously made his Test debut during the summer at The Oval while covering for Jamie Smith on paternity leave, but he has not featured in any subsequent squads after a difficult outing behind the stumps and with the bat.
The upcoming tour will commence with a three-match ODI series before the T20 matches begin on November 21.
