Surrey have enhanced their survival prospects by expanding the cushion separating them from Leicestershire in the standings. Even so, the squad remains in search of further tallies to completely dispel any lingering drop-zone concerns. A half-century by Tom Haines offered resistance during the contest, but it was not enough to hinder Surrey from strengthening their position relative to their adversaries.
