Kristian Shevchenko, the 19-year-old son of former Ballon d'Or winner Andriy Shevchenko, has joined seventh-tier club Sholing FC on a permanent deal. The move marks a new chapter for the young player, who previously trained with Chelsea, Tottenham, and Watford’s academies before being released by Watford’s under-21s team in May.
Sholing, based in Southampton, has ties to professional football through figures like Chelsea and England defender Levi Colwill, who serves as the club’s associate director and community ambassador, and former Hull City player Matt Targett, whose brother Brad plays for the club’s senior team in the Southern League Premier Division South. Manager Paul Doswell explained the signing reflects a shift in the club’s strategy to develop young talent released from professional academies, offering them a pathway to progress in non-league football before potentially returning to higher levels.
