West Indies skipper Shai Hope reached a significant career milestone during the opening match of the five-game series against India. By scoring 52 runs from 37 deliveries, Hope recorded his 14th score of 50 or more in T20 Internationals, moving him into a tie with Brandon King for the third-most such performances in his nation's history.
This innings, which featured six boundaries and two maximums, anchored the visitors to a total of 171. A key 63-run partnership with Sherfane Rutherford helped stabilize the West Indies effort after Hope took charge at the top of the order.
India utilized a balanced bowling attack to restrict the tourists, with newcomer Naman Dhir leading the way by claiming three wickets for 31 runs. Spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav also contributed significantly, taking two wickets apiece for 26 and 33 runs respectively.
Hope currently trails only Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis on the all-time list for West Indies players with the most 50-plus scores in the shortest format.
