The Seattle Seahawks' Nick Emmanwori is now one step closer to an automatic one-game suspension after accumulating two fines for dangerous tackles in the team's recent win over the Los Angeles Chargers. The first fine, $14,648, came for a helmet-related headbutt against Chargers guard Cole Strange, a move that directly contributed to a short field goal for the opposing team.
The second fine, another $14,648, was issued for an uncalled hip-drop tackle on Chargers wide receiver Oronde Gadsden II, a penalty that has become a focal point for the NFL’s crackdown on repeated violations. Under updated league rules, Emmanwori’s third hip-drop offense would trigger a suspension, though he still has the option to appeal the current fines to avoid accruing strikes against his record.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks saw other players fined for altercations, including cornerback Josh Jobe ($12,537) and wide receiver Tre Harris ($9,870) for a first-quarter scuffle, while Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Lawrence faced a $17,911 penalty for a late roughing-the-passer call on Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert.
