The Seattle Seahawks are making strategic roster moves ahead of their Week 6 road game against the Denver Broncos, activating two key special teams players from their practice squad. Wide receiver Irv Charles, acquired from the New York Jets in May, returns after missing the first five games due to a knee injury.
Though initially activated to the active roster on Tuesday, he was later released to make room for running back Velus Jones Jr., but remained on the practice squad without waivers. Charles is expected to bolster the Seahawks’ struggling kickoff and punt return units, where they’ve allowed among the most yards per return in the league so far this season.
On defense, linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo—who spent time with the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, and Tennessee Titans before joining Seattle—will also see his first action for the team. His elevation comes as the Seahawks deal with injuries to starters Drake Thomas and Chazz Surratt, leaving their defensive linebacker group in short supply.
