Scottish Premiership crowds break four million mark

Scottish top-flight football recently achieved a major attendance milestone, surpassing four million spectators over the course of a single campaign for the first time. Average gates grew by three percent to reach 17,903, driven by a dramatic final-day title defense by Celtic on their home turf against Hearts.

This performance places Scotland at the pinnacle of European per capita attendance figures, generating nearly twenty spectators for every one thousand residents, which doubles the rate seen in Norway.

UEFA figures indicate that total attendance across all men's fixtures reached approximately six million, bolstered by lower-tier matches, cup ties, and European fixtures. Domestically, Celtic and Rangers both managed to draw over a million supporters through their gates across various competitions.

Meanwhile, data highlighting player development reveals that roughly two-thirds of top-flight minutes went to foreign players, prompting the Scottish FA to put forward new proposals regarding young talent participation ahead of an upcoming November vote by clubs.
