Sam Darnold throws his first TD of the season, Jaxon Smith-Njigba catches his fifth

Sam Darnold returned to the field for Seattle and connected with Jaxon Smith-Njigba on a short one-yard pass into the end zone. The scoring opportunity was set up by a defensive pass interference penalty against Washington committed against the wide receiver.

This scoring play marked Darnold's initial touchdown toss of the campaign and the fifth touchdown catch for Smith-Njigba this year, following four previous scoring receptions from Drew Lock.

Darnold has been sidelined since sustaining an injury during the opening possession of the team's first matchup of the season. Despite his absence, the squad managed to secure victories while relying heavily on Smith-Njigba, who currently paces the league in touchdown receptions.

The game is tied at seven points apiece during the second period amidst wet weather conditions in Washington.
