Sahibzada Farhan has been appointed as the new T20I captain for Pakistan, replacing Salman Ali Agha, who was removed from the leadership role and excluded from the shortest format squad. Farhan earned the promotion following a dominant performance in the 2026 T20 World Cup, where he finished as the leading run-scorer with 383 runs at an average of 76.60.
Meanwhile, Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to lead the ODI side, which features the return of Babar Azam. Hasan Nawaz, recognized for his 96-run effort against India in the Asian Games final, has been selected for both the T20I and ODI squads.
Pakistan is scheduled to host Sri Lanka for three T20I matches starting October 9th at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with subsequent games on October 11th and 13th. Following this series, the team will participate in an ODI tri-series involving England and Sri Lanka.
The initial matches of this tournament will be held in Rawalpindi before the action shifts to Lahore for the remaining fixtures and the final.
