Ryan Day Takes Subtle Shot at Curt Cignetti’s Indiana With Strong Ohio State Message: "Can't just crawl up"

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day recently addressed his team's strategic philosophy following a quarterback dilemma involving Julian Sayin, offering remarks that appeared to challenge the bolder coaching style of Indiana counterpart Curt Cignetti. Day emphasized a balanced approach that avoids both excessive conservatism and recklessness, pointing back to past instances where overly cautious play-calling hampered the Buckeyes.

Meanwhile, Cignetti's established track record includes notable high-stakes gambles, such as a decisive fourth-down touchdown run by quarterback Fernando Mendoza during a national championship victory over Miami in January 2026.
