Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been ruled out for Week 6 after a blood clot in his calf was diagnosed, an injury that traces back to an October 4 collision with the Los Angeles Rams. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Hurts first reported calf pain during that Week 4 win (24–20) over Los Angeles, though he practiced fully in the following days before seeking treatment on October 8.
The clot has since worsened, forcing the Eagles to activate backup Tanner McKee while Hurts faces an uncertain timeline—potentially sidelining him for multiple games or even the remainder of the season. With the team at 2–3 and missing key players like DaVonta Smith and Saquon Barkley, the injury adds to a struggling offense that has suffered further from the recent trade of A.J.
Brown. The Rams, meanwhile, have faced similar setbacks with defensive end A.J.
Jackson, who has also missed games due to blood clots in the past.
Medical experts suggest Hurts’ recovery depends on the clot’s size and treatment approach, with options ranging from minor surgery to prolonged rest. If the clot requires removal, Hurts could return in as little as 7–10 days post-procedure, though complications could extend his absence.
The Eagles, already in playoff danger for the first time since 2020, now face a critical stretch without their franchise quarterback, raising questions about whether this setback could derail Hurts’ entire season—or at least his chances of leading Philadelphia back to contention.
