The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has delayed its scheduled IPL stakeholder meeting, originally planned for October 15, due to a clash with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s felicitation ceremony for Indian athletes. The event, held at Modi’s residence in New Delhi, will honor both the Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams for their gold-medal victories at the recently concluded Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
India’s contingent secured 21 gold medals and a total of 85 medals across all disciplines, finishing fourth in the overall standings—a notable improvement from their eighth-place finish in the previous edition in Hangzhou. The BCCI’s postponement affects key participants, including IPL franchise owners, CEOs, hosting state associations, and broadcasters, with the new date and location yet to be announced.
The ceremony, set for 4:30 pm on October 15, will also recognize athletes from various sports who contributed to India’s strong performance in the continental competition.
