Pitt vs Virginia Tech football live updates: Start time, TV, predictions for Week 5 game

Sophomore quarterback Mason Heintschel aims to maintain his record-breaking momentum as Pitt travels to face an undefeated Virginia Tech squad guided by first-year coach James Franklin. The Panthers enter the Friday night matchup following a dominant 59-0 victory over Bucknell, while the Hokies recently secured a comeback triumph against Boston College amidst stormy weather conditions.

Friday's contest features a compelling duel under center between Heintschel and Penn State transfer Ethan Grunkemyer. Grunkemyer has accumulated 1,012 passing yards and eight touchdowns across his first four starts for Virginia Tech, whereas Heintschel has posted 1,191 yards and 14 scores, placing his touchdown total fourth nationally.
