The New England Patriots entered Monday’s light practice significantly depleted, with five players ruled out of the session ahead of their Thursday night showdown with the Chicago Bears. Offensive linemen Ben Brown and Alijah Vera-Tucker, along with defensive tackle Joshua Farmer, cornerback Carlton Davis III, and kicker Andy Borregales were listed as non-participants, compounding the team’s recent roster challenges.
The Patriots also placed wide receiver Romeo Doubs on injured reserve following a shoulder injury suffered during Sunday’s win over the New York Jets, where he scored a 42-yard touchdown before departing the game. Meanwhile, the Bears arrived with their own set of concerns, as running back Kyle Monangai, guard Jonah Jackson, and linebackers T.J.
Edwards and Jack Sanborn were also sidelined due to injuries ranging from a thumb/toe issue to a concussion and hamstring strain.
The Patriots’ offensive line, already tested by Doubs’ absence and the return of All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez, faces further disruption with Brown (knee), Vera-Tucker (hamstring), and Morgan Moses (foot) among those limited in practice. Moses, a 35-year-old veteran at right tackle, managed just nine snaps against the Jets, while rookie Caleb Lomu and free-agent additions Matt Pryor and Walter Rouse stepped in to shore up pass protection.
The Bears, meanwhile, enter the game with a secondary that includes limited participation from cornerbacks Karon Prunty and Channing Canada, both dealing with hamstring issues, as Davis III’s neck injury keeps him out for a second consecutive game.
