The Carolina Panthers will use their Week 5 bye week as a critical healing period for two key players recovering from recent injuries. Linebacker Jaelan Phillips, who left Sunday’s 31–24 win over the Detroit Lions after just one tackle due to a hamstring issue, could be ready to return for the Week 6 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Phillips has already made an impact this season with eight tackles and two sacks in four games. Meanwhile, right tackle Monroe Freeling—who has started all four games of the year—is also expected to be available after dealing with a knee injury.
Head coach Dave Canales expressed optimism about both players’ recoveries, though other offensive linemen like Taylor Moton and Tershawn Wharton remain on the sidelines awaiting medical clearance. Running back Trevor Etienne, currently on injured reserve with an ankle injury, is also anticipated to return following the bye week, adding depth to the Panthers’ backfield.
