Old Trapper Mountain West Women's Volleyball Players of the Week - Oct. 19

October 19, 2026

The Mountain West Conference has named its weekly awards for women’s volleyball following Week 8 of the 2026 season, recognizing three standout performers from Air Force and Hawaiʻi.

Alysa Walker, a junior outside hitter from San Antonio, Texas/Keystone School, earned Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Falcons to a 1-1 record in their series against Grand Canyon. Walker’s offensive dominance included 41 kills across nine sets, with a .322 attack percentage for the week.

Her performance peaked in the second match, where she recorded a season-high 23 kills and one assist, while also contributing 18 kills in the opener.

Complementing Walker’s offensive prowess, Jenness Orcutt, an outside/opposite from Orlando, Florida/Paul J. Hagerty HS, was named Freshman of the Week.

Orcutt delivered career-high performances throughout the series, totaling 25 kills on a .357 hitting percentage, along with six blocks and one dig. Her standout effort came in the series finale, where she recorded 16 kills and three blocks, marking her highest output of the season.

In the first match, Orcutt also set a personal best with nine kills and three blocks.

On the defensive end, Hawaiʻi’s junior middle blocker Miliana Sylvester anchored the Rainbow Wahine’s undefeated conference start with a masterclass at the net. Sylvester posted 22 blocks and seven digs across nine sets, helping Hawaiʻi secure two straight wins at Wyoming.

Her performance included the nation’s top blocking outing of the week, with 13 blocks—five solos and eight assisted—in the first game. Sylvester followed that up with nine blocks (four solos and five assisted) in the second match.

Walker’s offensive efficiency and Orcutt’s breakout performances underscored Air Force’s resilience in a split series, while Sylvester’s defensive leadership propelled Hawaiʻi to an unbeaten conference record.

This report also draws on coverage from Ivy League, Big West, NCAA.com, FIVB.
