Notre Dame football has a chance to make history in Playoff era against BYU

Following a surprising 27-24 loss by top-ranked Georgia to Auburn, Notre Dame now has a clear path to the number one ranking. The Bulldogs fell after a late turnover allowed Auburn to secure a walk-off 34-yard field goal from Alex McPherson, a drive orchestrated by quarterback Byrum Brown.

To claim the top spot, Notre Dame must now secure a victory against eighth-ranked BYU on the road. The Fighting Irish have not held the top position in the AP Poll since 2012.
