Mumbai Cricket Association awards equal pay to men and women players

In a pioneering step, the Mumbai Cricket Association has instituted identical central contract tiers for both its male and female competitors, marking a first among all regional governing bodies in India. Under the freshly implemented structure, athletes assigned to the top tier, Grade A, will receive INR 12 lakh annually. Meanwhile, cricketers placed in Grade B will earn INR 8 lakh, and those slotted into Grade C will be provided INR 6 lakh per year.
