Mike Macdonald: It'd be crazy not to make Jaxon Smith-Njigba the primary target as much as you can

Jaxon Smith-Njigba continued his dominant 2026 campaign during Sunday's victory, recording 150 receiving yards and a touchdown on nine receptions. The wide receiver also contributed 13 rushing yards on two attempts, bringing his total scrimmage yardage to 163 for the game.

Through seven weeks, he leads the NFL with 867 receiving yards, eight receiving scores, and 78 targets. Head coach Mike Macdonald praised his star player's performance and character, noting that the team intends to prioritize him in their offensive game plan as much as possible.

Quarterback Sam Darnold frequently looked his way, including on a 28-yard touchdown pass that extended the lead to 10-0 in the second quarter. Smith-Njigba has now surpassed the century mark in receiving yards in six of his seven appearances this season.
