Utah Mammoth defenseman Mikhail Sergachev was forced out of Tuesday night’s game against the New Jersey Devils after taking a hard hit to the helmet from a puck. The incident occurred during the Mammoth’s visit to Prudential Center, where they faced off against the Devils in a non-conference matchup.
Sergachev’s departure marked another injury setback for the Mammoth, who had already seen Vincent Trocheck leave their previous game with a lower-body issue. Meanwhile, the Devils made a lineup adjustment, with Jesper Boqvist starting in place of Stefan Noesen.
The Mammoth had begun the season strongly, maintaining a 2-1 record in the Central Division, while the Devils sat at 1-1 in the Metropolitan Division. The game was part of a three-game home stand for New Jersey, following a tough loss to the New York Rangers the previous weekend.
