Liberty’s Breanna Stewart reveals ‘pretty frustrating’ reaction to referees’ reset timeout decision

New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart delivered a historic statistical line in Game 2 of their WNBA semifinal clash against the Atlanta Dream, recording 35 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and two blocks in a 101–98 overtime defeat at State Farm Arena. Despite her dominant performance, the Liberty fell short for the second straight game, now facing elimination after dropping Game 1 as well.

Stewart later criticized referees for miscommunicating a late-game reset timeout, a decision that left her team without a chance to extend the game further. The Dream’s Jonquel Jones and Marine Fauthoux also stood out with 21 and 20 points, respectively, as Atlanta secured the narrow overtime victory.

Game 3 shifts to Barclays Center on Friday, where the Liberty will need to overcome their current 0–2 series deficit to advance.
