Denver Nuggets forward Julian Strawther will miss the start of the 2026-27 season after sustaining a left knee sprain during a preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers on October 14. The injury, confirmed by an MRI the following day, will require a six-week recovery period before Strawther can be reassessed.
His return is now expected in December, pushing back his season debut and leaving the Nuggets without his offensive contributions for their October 22 opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center.
Strawther, a sharpshooter who averaged 7.2 points per game on 46.7% shooting last season, will join fellow Gonzaga product Ryan Nembhard on the perimeter this year. Nembhard was signed to a two-way contract in late September, but his debut alongside Strawther will now be delayed due to the injury.
The Nuggets’ bench and three-point shooting depth are already limited heading into the regular season, making Strawther’s absence a notable setback for Denver’s early-season plans.
