Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has openly criticized Movsar Evloev’s place in the organization, arguing the undefeated Russian fighter lacks the entertainment value to justify his top ranking. Evloev, who holds a 10-0 record in the UFC with all wins coming by decision—most recently a majority decision over Lerone Murphy in March—is set to face Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi.
Aldo, however, dismissed Evloev as a dull performer, stating he would cut the fighter if he were UFC president, even if Evloev remains undefeated. The former champion prefers fighters like Ilia Topuria and Max Holloway, who deliver high-energy striking exchanges, over Evloev’s methodical, low-scoring style.
Aldo also contrasted Evloev with Jean Silva, who he believes thrives by putting on a show despite recent losses, and Jon Jones, whose charisma and dominant performances make him a fan favorite. The debate highlights the UFC’s growing focus on fighters who engage audiences beyond just rankings or record books.
