The Los Angeles Chargers will face Sunday’s matchup against the Denver Broncos without two key offensive linemen, as left tackle Rashawn Slater has been placed on injured reserve following ankle surgery. Right tackle Joe Alt is also out with a neck injury, forcing the team to rely on backup options after already navigating a similar lineup last season.
The absence of these starters adds further pressure to a unit already dealing with multiple injuries, as the Chargers seek their first win of the year.
Safety Derwin James, who played every snap last season, is also sidelined with a hamstring issue. The injury list extends beyond the offensive line, with wide receivers Quentin Johnston and Brenen Thompson out due to chest and quad injuries, respectively.
Offensive lineman Kayode Awosika (fibula), cornerback Donte Jackson (hamstring), and offensive lineman Trevor Penning (concussion) are also ruled out, while quarterback Trey Lance (groin) remains doubtful. Tight end Charlie Kolar, fullback Scott Matlock, wide receiver Ladd McConkey, guard Branson Taylor, and cornerback Rodney Shelley are listed as questionable, further complicating the Chargers’ depth chart.
