Following a season-ending sweep by the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League Division Series, impending free agent Jazz Chisholm Jr. expressed a strong desire to remain with the New York Yankees.
Chisholm, who grew up supporting the franchise, cited his childhood admiration for Derek Jeter and his positive experiences in New York as primary motivations for wanting to return. His 2026 campaign included 19 home runs, 55 RBIs, and 41 stolen bases over 137 games, though he struggled defensively with -6 runs saved at second base and managed only two hits during the postseason.
This followed a breakout 2025 season where he earned All-Star and Silver Slugger honors with 31 home runs and 80 RBIs. Despite his interest in staying, the Yankees have internal options for the position, including Anthony Volpe and prospect George Lombard Jr.
