IPL auction returns to India after three years, Goa chosen as venue for 2027 edition

After three successive overseas iterations, the Indian Premier League is bringing its player bidding event back to domestic soil for the 2027 campaign. Board officials have selected Goa to host the upcoming mini-auction scheduled for mid-December, marking the first time the proceedings will be held domestically since Kochi staged the pre-2023 edition.

Previous events during this overseas stretch took place across three international destinations, including Dubai, Jeddah, and Abu Dhabi. While organising domestic gatherings in December typically introduces scheduling hurdles due to heavy demand from weddings and concurrent functions, the scaled-down nature of a mini-auction has simplified logistics this time.

Franchises will focus on targeted squad adjustments and replacing departed players under an anticipated purse limit of 130 crore rupees.
