India’s selection committee is reportedly eyeing Mumbai all-rounder Suryansh Shedge for his first ODI call-up ahead of the New Zealand tour, following a strong return from injury in the recent Australia A series. Shedge, 23, took four wickets in the opening match and scored 66 in the final ODI, showcasing his ability as both a bowler and batter.
His T20I experience—including two caps against Ireland and Zimbabwe earlier this year—adds to his credentials, though he has yet to play a single ODI for India. The decision comes amid a tight scheduling conflict, as the ODI series overlaps with the upcoming Test matches, forcing the committee to balance white-ball and red-ball preparations.
With Hardik Pandya sidelined due to injuries, Shedge’s inclusion could address a shortage of all-rounders in the squad. The final ODI squad announcement remains pending, with the series set to begin on November 4 in Auckland, just days before the first Test in Wellington on November 19.
