New Zealand Cricket has expanded its coaching staff for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Australia, adding two former national team players to support interim head coach Dean Brownlie. Martin Guptill, a veteran with 367 international appearances across all formats, and Andre Adams, a 47-cap allrounder with prior experience touring with the White Ferns, will join the team’s backroom.
Their appointments follow Brownlie’s temporary promotion after Ben Sawyer stepped down in September, with the trio set to lead the squad during the tour beginning October 12. Guptill and Adams bring extensive experience in elite women’s cricket, with Adams most recently coaching Birmingham Phoenix in the Hundred.
The series will take place entirely at North Sydney Oval, with matches scheduled for October 18, 20, and 22. Both coaches expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, highlighting the team’s recent success and the chance to contribute to player development ahead of future challenges.
