The New York Giants look to build on their recent momentum as they welcome the struggling New Orleans Saints to MetLife Stadium this Sunday. Despite covering the spread in their last two outings, the Giants face a skeptical Vegas line, with the Saints favored by 1.5 points and a combined score of 45.5.
The Saints, however, have shown flashes of resilience, nearly pulling off back-to-back upset victories in Weeks 1 and 2 before faltering in three straight home games, allowing a combined 103 points to the Raiders, Falcons, and Vikings. Their offense has been inconsistent, with quarterback Tyler Shough showing promise early in the season but struggling in recent matchups, including a 96-yard performance against Brian Flores’ Giants defense last week.
New Orleans’ defense, however, has been a major liability, ranking second in the NFL in points allowed per game (30.2) and seventh in total yards surrendered (371). Their run defense has been particularly porous, allowing 148.8 rushing yards per game and a league-high ten rushing touchdowns.
The Giants’ offensive line, led by Andrew Thomas, will have a prime opportunity to exploit these weaknesses, especially on the right side of the defense, where teams have found success. The Saints’ pass defense ranks 20th in yards allowed (213.4 per game), and their blitz-heavy scheme—ranking ninth in blitz rate (31.8%) but 29th in pressure rate (18.2%)—could create vulnerabilities for Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.
Edge rusher Chase Young has been a bright spot for New Orleans, with 20 pressures and four sacks this season, setting up an intriguing matchup against Thomas.
