St. John's University is celebrating a historic milestone as five of its basketball alumni have secured spots on NBA opening day rosters.
This group includes a trio of rookies from the 2026 draft class: Zuby Ejiofor, who was selected 23rd overall by the Atlanta Hawks, Dillon Mitchell, taken 40th by the Boston Celtics, and Bryce Hopkins, chosen 49th by the Denver Nuggets. While Ejiofor enters the league on a guaranteed contract, Mitchell and Hopkins begin their professional careers on two-way agreements.
Julian Champagnie returns for his fifth season with the San Antonio Spurs, building on a campaign where he played every regular-season game and reached the NBA Finals. He holds the Spurs' single-game record for three-pointers made, having hit eleven in a contest against the New York Knicks last New Year's Eve.
