Five Blue Jays Are Gold Glove Finalists

The Toronto Blue Jays have five players named as finalists for the 2026 Gold Glove Awards, marking a strong defensive showing across multiple positions. Catcher Brandon Valenzuela earned a spot despite backing up Alejandro Kirk and Tyler Heineman, posting a strong 30% success rate on stolen-base attempts while handling just over half the team’s innings.

First baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. secured the nod after leading American League first basemen in Outs Above Average, despite committing eight errors.

Shortstop Andrés Giménez and right fielder Nathan Lukes also made the list, with Lukes standing out for his error-free outings in right field and center while ranking second in OAA among AL right fielders. Pitcher José Soriano rounded out the group, earning recognition for his fielding contributions despite the subjective nature of evaluating pitchers in that category.
