The Atlanta Falcons have made a notable roster move by signing outside linebacker Charles Snowden off the Washington Commanders' practice squad, while cutting defensive end Bralen Trice to make room on the 53-man roster. Snowden, a 28-year-old veteran, brings experience from his time with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he appeared in 31 games over two seasons, contributing 4.5 sacks and solidifying himself as a reliable tackler and run defender.
Though his sack totals were modest, his ability to cover and apply pressure made him a valuable rotational piece. The Falcons, dealing with injuries to key pass rushers like Za’Darius Smith and Yasir Abdullah, see Snowden as an immediate upgrade over Trice, who had struggled with run defense and consistency in coverage.
With James Pearce Jr. set to return soon, the Falcons aim to bolster their thin edge-rushing group, which has relied heavily on younger players like Cameron Thomas and Samson Ebukam due to injuries and limited snaps for others.
Snowden’s addition could provide much-needed depth as the team prepares for Sunday’s matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
