Expect a dangerous South African bowling attack if Rabada is included in 2nd Test, says Wade

October 16, 2026

South Africa’s bowling attack is set to become significantly more formidable for the second Test against Australia, with Kagiso Rabada expected to return after missing the first match in Durban. The Proteas lost the opening Test by 214 runs, and their lack of sustained pace bowling pressure was a key factor.

Rabada’s inclusion in the squad for the match in Gqeberha starting Sunday will add versatility, allowing him and Anrich Nortje to alternate between quick spells and aggressive bowling stints. Australia’s assistant coach, Matthew Wade, emphasized Rabada’s relentless competitiveness, warning that his return will make the South African attack harder to counter throughout the Test.

Meanwhile, Australia’s own struggles continue, with all-rounder Cameron Green sidelined again due to an abdominal strain, likely missing the second Test despite returning to training nets. Wade also dismissed concerns over Australia’s shifting batting order, stressing adaptability as a strength in their approach to varying conditions.
